Foster Pets

In our rural communities, a growing crisis is hidden from view. Dogs, once beloved pets, are being abandoned at alarming rates on farms and back roads. These loyal companions, left to fend for themselves, face unimaginable hardships. But you have the power to change their lives—and yours—for the better.

It's not uncommon for us to find an abandoned dog or a littler of puppies near our farm.  They're often accustomed to the warmth and care of a home and suddenly find themselves battling the elements, predators, and starvation. The isolation is not just physical but emotional, leading to immense suffering and often untimely deaths.

In situations like this, we do the best we can to nurse these animals back to health and find them a home that will provide them the love and safety they deserve.

Hailey...

...is one of 6 puppies that were abandoned at our ranch (along with their mother) in December 2023.  While the mom was clearly familiar with humans, the puppies were not.  Frightened and starving, they hid from us when we tried to gather them to bring out of the weather, but eventually followed their mother who, in turn, followed us.

Over a couple of weeks, we nursed the mom and babies back to a healthy weight and had them all de-wormed and given their initial round of vaccinations.  Over time, we were fortunate enough to find loving  homes for them all.

Hailey, unfortunately, was returned to us in May 2024.  Still timid and afraid of strangers, she looked to our two dogs to understand that this is a safe space.  She quickly chose Lacey as her 'person' and over time realized that Dan was a friend as well.

Silly and full of energy, Hailey has adapted well to life on the farm and loves nothing more than chasing us in our side-by-side through the pastures.  She has taken it upon herself to protect us at all costs against any and all salamanders and knows basic commands.

We've worked with Hailey on building confidence and also had her spayed, microchipped, and brought up to date on her vaccinations.  She is approximately 10 months old and we believe she is a Blue Lacy/Catahoula mix.  While she has certainly stolen our hearts, we believe she will be the perfect addition to another home.

If you are interested in adopting Hailey or know someone who might be, please feel free to reach out.
